Bread Machine Bread - Whole Wheat
I've started messing with the bread machine that I picked up (very cheap) several years back. What a pleasure it is to have something actually work nicely!
The recipe below has worked in my bread machine, but I am happier when I cut it in half. Try it both ways. This is a nice balanced whole wheat bread.
Ingredients: (Double batch)
1 1/4 + 2 Tablespoons warm water
2 Tablespoons oil
1/4 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 Tablespoons dry milk powder
3 1/2 cups bread flour
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 1/4 teaspoons dry active yeast (or a packet)
Directions:
1. Add the wet ingredients to the bottom of the bread pan.
2. Starting with the flour, carefully add the dry ingredients on top of the wet ingredients, forming a barrier so that the yeast will not get wet. Add the yeast last.
3. Turn the machine on for a regular loaf of bread.
4. Wait. It comes out great.
Remember to take that little paddle out of the bottom of the loaf of bread if it stays in.
